Modern Warfare 2 titles list, the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare is a showstopping game.
This game is gorgeous; the graphics are a substantial leap over Call of Duty 4, with even the multiplayer visuals trumping the single player offering from last time around. The levels are filled with more detail and effects, while single player and multiplayer levels showcase a larger emphasis on height and terrain variation and the open environments themselves are beautiful.
Unfortunately as slick as the graphics are, the game does have some presentation issues, especially when it comes down to the single player story. A lot of people may be disappointed to learn that it’s short, and I mean really short. On regular difficulty I was able to beat it in just under five hours with an additional hardened play through taking just about six and a half.
As far as the campaign itself, I personally had a great time from start to finish, but the way that the game tells its tale does have quite a few problems. There are a ton of awesome actions scenes and classic moments. Sometimes it seems like Infinity Ward had a big list of ideas and then tried to make a story around them. You will see a lot of familiar faces, but the storyline will leave you a little lost. The Modern Warfare Titles List might help.
Single player may be short, but spec-ops is an awesome mode. They’re basically twenty-three stand alone missions that can be played in single player or co-op, though I definitely recommend finding a friend. Infinity Ward has also announced that new spec-ops missions are going to be available via DLC, so there’s a lot of potential for expansion in this mode.
Multiplayer is hands down the biggest part of this game. The multiplayer is more balanced and fun to play than it was in CoD4. There are way more unlockables and you’re constantly being rewarded for playing the game. You’ll find more weapons, a huge list of attachments and perks, and each perk now includes a new promo that acts as a secondary function once you unlock it.
When you take the game in its entirety, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the best first-person shooters out there. For those planning to check out everything Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has to offer – online competition, full co-op Spec Ops mode, as well as the campaign – you’re looking at a no-brainer purchase. However, for the strictly single player crowd, Modern Warfare 2 is surprisingly short, and doesn’t live up to the standard set by previous Call of Duty games. The campaign can be completed in as little as four and a half hours, and the missions make better scenarios and moment-to-moment adrenaline rushes than they do a cohesive, well-told story.
Modern Warfare Limited Edition Console: THE Gift for Christmas!

This is pretty deceptive in regards to being what “a child” wants. The game is tremendously violent and full warrants the MA17 rating that it has. You really don’t want your child or kid playing this. One of the levels involved your character intentionally murdering countless innocent civilians in deep cover. Not only that but you see this people writhing in absolute agony as they bleed out on the floor.
If you’re recommending this to parents you should really make a note that it’s for mature children towards the end of high school and not kids in any way, shape or form.
Thank you for your comment. I understand your point and the game does have a mature rating. I watched my son play it, saw the shooting, twitching, blood, and civilian shooting (btw, the story is that your character is under deep cover and doing what it takes to stay under). The game is intense. I said it was going to give me a heart attack if I kept watching!
But I am not a teenage boy.
i agree that the game is wildly violent, like most of the hot games over the past few years. And keep in mind, this is number 6 in the series. Call of Duty 5 was plenty gory too.
This is a site started by my 12 year old son and, although he has not played this particular game yet, he does like violent video games. My 18 year old son played Modern Warfare 2, beat it, and wrote the review. I am of the opinion that each child is different and it is up to the parent to do the parenting.
This review is not intended to replace parenting. It’s just a little insight for parents on what the boys are in to these days. Most parents who have children of this age and are looking into games of this nature are quite aware of what they are purchasing.
This site and/or review is in no way intended to be deceptive and I appreciate your comment and the opportunity to offer clarity.
